Decimal / Percentage Conversion Drills

By WSM Editorial|Why do decimal and percentage conversions matter in finance?

"Fast decimal-percentage conversion prevents errors and keeps calculations coherent when switching between rates, margins, and basis points."

— WSM Direct Answer
Why This Matters in Finance

Finance discussions constantly move between decimals, percentages, and bps. Conversion errors are avoidable but costly because they distort assumptions and conclusions.

Worked Examples
EXAMPLE 01

Convert 0.075 to percentage.

7.5%.

Move decimal two places right: 0.075 becomes 7.5%.

EXAMPLE 02

Convert 235 bps to percentage.

2.35%.

100 bps equals 1.00%, so 235 bps is 2.35%.

EXAMPLE 03

Convert 14% to decimal form.

0.14.

Move decimal two places left from 14 to 0.14.
