Wall St Math V2: Daily Test, Levelled Drills and Leaderboard

Wall St Math V2 went live on September 24, 2026. It is a mental math trainer built around the arithmetic that finance work actually runs on: percentages, rate changes, quick division, and Rule of 72 estimates. V2 adds a shared Daily test, three ways to drill (Fixed, Levelled, and Custom), drills that respond instantly, and a public ALL-TIME leaderboard that went live on September 28.
If you only want to try it, take today's Daily test. It takes two minutes and needs no account.
What Wall St Math V2 does
V2 turns timed finance-math practice into a loop: take a test, see exactly where you lost time or accuracy, then drill that category until it improves. Every mode uses the same seven categories and the same scoring, so a result in one mode tells you what to practice in another.
| Mode | What it is for | Account needed | Adds ALL-TIME points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily | One shared 120-second test per Eastern-time day | No, but guests are not ranked | Yes, the full signed-in score plus streak bonuses |
| Fixed | 10, 15, or 20 questions at a standard difficulty mix, for scores you can compare | Yes | Yes, within the daily cap |
| Levelled | Personal practice that starts easy and adapts each category over time | Yes | Yes, within the daily cap |
| Custom | Your own difficulty mix and question types for targeted work | Yes | Yes, within the daily cap |
| Sprint | Zetamac-style 120-second arithmetic with local history | No | No |
Fixed, Levelled, and Custom all start from the drill setup screen after you sign in and finish onboarding.
The Daily test: one shared 120-second run
The Daily test gives everyone the same question blueprint for the Eastern-time calendar day. It covers all seven categories and runs for 120 seconds; questions keep coming until the clock runs out.
- ▸One ranked run per day. A signed-in account gets one Daily run per Eastern-time day. Coming back later shows the result you already earned. There is no retake and no practice replay.
- ▸Guests can play. You can take the Daily without an account and see your score. That guest result stays private and does not move into an account you create later.
- ▸Streak bonuses. Once you are signed in, completing the Daily on consecutive days earns a bonus on top of your score: 100 points on streak days 1 to 6, 150 on days 7 to 13, 200 on days 14 to 29, and 300 from day 30. A run needs at least one correct answer to count toward the streak, and a missed day resets the next bonus to 100.
Because everyone answers the same blueprint, the Daily is the fairest way to compare yourself with other people on a given day.
Fixed drills: scores you can compare
Fixed is the benchmark mode. You pick 10, 15, or 20 questions and the exact question types you want, and every Fixed drill uses the same difficulty mix: 50% easy, 30% medium, 20% hard. Holding the mix constant is what makes one Fixed result comparable with the next.
Results are checked on the server and stored with your score, accuracy, timing, and a question-by-question review, so you can see which operations slowed you down.
Levelled practice: build each category from Level 1
Levelled is personal practice. Each of the seven categories has its own level from 1 to 10. A Levelled plan starts easy and moves each category up as you show you can handle it, so your time goes to the material that is currently hard for you rather than the material you already know.
Levels are private progress, not a public rank. Accounts that existed before V2 started their category levels at Level 1, and their earlier drill history and XP were kept.
Custom practice: your own mix
Custom lets you set your own difficulty mix and choose question types. Use it to hammer one weakness, such as hard percent-change questions, or to warm up on easy ones. Because the mix is yours, a Custom result is labelled practice rather than ranked, so it is never compared against the standard Fixed benchmark. The points still count toward your ALL-TIME total.
The ALL-TIME leaderboard
The ALL-TIME leaderboard ranks every signed-in player by raw points. It is live now and updates as people practice.
What adds points:
- ▸Drills completed before V2 count at their original stored score, unchanged.
- ▸Drills completed since V2 count for the first 40 scored questions you answer each Eastern-time day, across Fixed, Levelled, and Custom. You can keep practicing past 40; the extra questions simply do not add public points that day.
- ▸Signed-in Daily scores count in full, plus any streak bonus.
What the board shows: rank, username, points, current Daily streak, and last active day. It never shows emails, locations, answers, or anything else from your account. To appear, you need a username (set during onboarding) and at least one completed drill or signed-in Daily with points.
The daily 40-question cap keeps the board about skill and consistency rather than hours spent. Someone who does the Daily and a short drill every day will climb steadily; a single marathon session will not run away with it.
How V2 scores an answer
Each question is worth up to 100 points: points = 100 × accuracy factor × time factor.
- ▸Correct means exact. Only an exact answer counts as correct.
- ▸Close still earns points. An answer within 5% of the true value lands in the "close" band and earns partial points, but it is not marked correct.
- ▸Speed matters. Each question type has a target time. Answering well inside it keeps the full time credit, and slower answers earn fewer points. Gold, Silver, and Bronze speed badges show how you did against the target. Speed affects points, never correctness.
Keeping points and correctness separate is deliberate. In finance, a fast estimate that is close is useful, and an exact answer is better. The methodology page explains the scoring in more detail.
Drills that keep up with you
In V2 a drill loads its full question set when it starts. Your answers are checked in the browser the moment you enter them, so there is no pause between questions while a server responds. When the drill ends, the result saves once and the server re-scores the whole run before it is stored or ranked. You get instant feedback, and the leaderboard still only reflects results the server has checked.
Seven categories and 21 question types
Every drill draws from seven categories and 21 question types, each at three difficulty levels:
| Category | Question types | The kind of task it trains |
|---|---|---|
| Addition | 4 | Summing figures across a model or a trade blotter |
| Subtraction | 3 | Spreads, differences, and net changes |
| Multiplication | 3 | Scaling a position or a per-unit figure |
| Division | 3 | Per-share, per-unit, and ratio calculations |
| Percent-of | 3 | "What is 15% of 240?" |
| Rate/Percent | 3 | "80 to 92 is what % change?", yield inversion, implied valuation |
| Rule of 72 | 2 | "At 8%, roughly how many years to double?" |
The finance-specific categories are the point. A generic arithmetic trainer will make you faster at adding, but it will not drill the percent-change and doubling-time estimates that come up in interviews and at the desk.
Who V2 is for
- ▸Interview candidates preparing for trading, investment banking, and quant interviews where timed mental math is tested. Start with our complete guide to mental math for trading interviews or the Zetamac alternative comparison.
- ▸Working analysts and traders who want to keep their number sense sharp. A daily two-minute Daily test plus one short Levelled drill is a realistic routine.
- ▸Anyone rusty on the basics. The Basics area and the Rule of 72 explainer are good starting points.
How to get started
- ▸Take today's Daily test. No account needed. It shows your baseline across all seven categories in two minutes.
- ▸Create a free account to keep your results, rank your Daily score, and appear on the leaderboard.
- ▸Run a Fixed drill to set a comparable benchmark.
- ▸Switch to Levelled to work on the categories where the review shows you are slow or inaccurate.

What Wall St Math does not claim
Wall St Math is independent from Zetamac and from every employer mentioned on this site. "Zetamac-style" describes the timing and arithmetic format of Sprint; it does not imply affiliation or certification. A score, level, streak, or leaderboard rank is practice feedback, not an employer benchmark, a hiring prediction, or a pass mark.

Frequently asked questions
▸Is Wall St Math free?
Yes. The Daily test, Sprint, drills, and the leaderboard are free to use.
▸Do I need an account?
Not for the Daily test or Sprint. You need a free account for Fixed, Levelled, and Custom drills, to rank your Daily score, and to appear on the leaderboard.
▸Can I retake the Daily test?
No. Each signed-in account gets one ranked Daily run per Eastern-time day. You can revisit your result, and a new Daily opens at midnight Eastern time.
▸How do I get on the ALL-TIME leaderboard?
Sign up, choose a username during onboarding, and complete a drill or a signed-in Daily. Your points appear on the leaderboard once your total is above zero.
▸Do Custom and Levelled drills count toward the leaderboard?
Yes. Every completed drill counts, up to the first 40 scored questions per Eastern-time day. Custom and Levelled results are not part of the ranked Fixed benchmark, but their points still add to your ALL-TIME total.
▸Why isn't my guest Daily score on the leaderboard?
Guest results stay private. Signing up starts your ranked history from that point; it does not claim a Daily you took as a guest.
▸Is Wall St Math affiliated with Zetamac?
No. Wall St Math is independent. Sprint follows a similar rapid-arithmetic format and adds finance-specific categories, review, and progress tracking.
